High heat threatens machines in two ways. In hydraulics near a furnace, in a steel mill or in a mine, the risk is fire when oil leaks. On an oven chain, oil oxidizes and evaporates, and its residue turns into carbon deposits.
Fire risk in hydraulics
Pyrotec HFD-U 68 is a fire-resistant hydraulic fluid designed to DIN EN ISO 12922. The manufacturer recommends it for steel mills, continuous casters, furnaces and mines.
Deposits in the hydraulic system
Pyrotec HFD-U has high thermal and oxidation stability, so it helps keep the system clean and limits deposits.
Carbon on the oven chain
Pyrolube 830 has detergent action and limits carbon deposits and sludge at up to 230°C.
Oil evaporationPyrolube 830 resists evaporation, so it lubricates longer without unpleasant odors or emissions.
Wear and corrosion
Pyrotec HFD-U protects system components against wear, seizure and corrosion. Pyrolube 830 contains an anti-wear additive package.
Oven chain oil is used up as it runs, but hydraulic fluid circulates for a long time. Analysis of a Pyrotec HFD-U sample shows viscosity, oxidation, water and contamination, so you change the fluid only when needed. How oil analysis works

According to the manufacturer data sheet, FM Global Approval Standard 6930 applies to HFD-U 46, not 68. Pyrotec HFD-U 68 meets DIN EN ISO 12922 and DIN ISO 15380. If your plant or insurer requires FM approval, ask us.
Yes. It is based on a fully synthetic ester, is readily biodegradable to DIN ISO 15380 and meets EU Ecolabel and Blue Angel requirements. The manufacturer also recommends it for forestry, construction and tunneling machines.
Apply it by the usual methods: drip, splash or spray. Clean the chains thoroughly before the changeover, because mineral oil deposits trap dust and other contaminants.
It depends on the machine, so check its manufacturer manual for fire-resistant fluids. We will help plan the changeover and test the fluid after startup.
