In a gearbox, oil lubricates gears, bearings and synchronizers. Wear starts with aging oil, deposits and corrosion, before you hear grinding on shifts or see a leak.
Oxidation at high temperature
Both oils resist high temperature and oxidation. Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 limits deposits on gears and bearings.
Stiff cold shifting
Both oils flow well at low temperature and help smooth shifting. Synthetic Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 stays fluid even in arctic cold.
Wear and pitting under load
Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 protects gear teeth at high torque and against pitting at high speeds. It keeps its viscosity under shear.
Synchronizer corrosion
Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 protects copper and copper-alloy parts against rust and corrosion, which supports synchronizer operation.

Mobil Gear Oil FE 75W is for Peugeot and Citroën manual gearboxes and meets PSA B71 2310. Choose Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 when the carmaker recommends a 75W-90 API GL-4, GL-5 or MT-1 oil for the gearbox or axle. Otherwise, the owner’s manual decides.
Don’t assume so. Choose an oil that meets the class and spec the carmaker specifies, not just the same viscosity. Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 meets API GL-5 and MT-1, and the manufacturer also recommends it where GL-4 is required; Mobil Gear Oil FE 75W has no API class on its data sheet, only the PSA spec.
The manufacturer excludes it from manual, automatic and semi-automatic transmissions that call for engine oil or ATF. For those, choose the oil per the car manual.
Yes, FE 75W fully replaces BV 75W-80. The manufacturer recommends it for all manual gearboxes in PSA Group Peugeot and Citroën models in Europe.
